Some of my very successful friends (med techs, geologists, teachers, engineers, IT directors, to name a few) will be distressed to know that, despite their full and happy careers and family lives, community service, etc. that they are losers just because they sport tattoos.

To me, the debate is one of misplaced priorities. Let's be honest, it's about making money for the city, not public safety. This allows them to make money off of motorists without having to dedicate personnel to enforcement.

They also can charge 15-year-olds as adults in cases of murder. Terrorist or not, this is hardly new ground.

lmk02: You have clearly drawn your own conclusions based on gut reaction rather than fact. Perhaps you may recall the state of affairs with Iraq when Bush, Sr. invaded? At that time they had just invaded Kuwait and were poised to attack Saudi Arabia.

@David: I made no such justification. However, whether or not the tenants of religious teachings are good or bad, a nuke makes no distinction about who is innocent or evil. A nuke would kill babies just as surely as it would kill hardcore extremists.

Bill, I'll agree to a point. I do find irony (and revulsion) in the idea that someone would champion killing innocent non-combatants as some solution to stopping radical Islam. Fortunately, in most cases people run their mouths off, but don't perpetuate violence of their own.
